Another shifters story. Another pack politic and power seeking. Mental connection and communication with mates, fast healing. What else was new. But I guess as the start of a new series, it was okay. There were lots of potential to follow up with the next book, such as moving on to the other couple, looking for a way to catch the traitor etc.
The upside of the pairing, or should I say "mates"
, in this book was the long period of introduction - years even - by way of dreams visitation. There were insta love/lust at first sight, but considering years of "foreplay", sort of, I consider this an okay.
Also helping was that the Alpha, Merek, was not typical macho arrogant ass, I'd say he was an equal opportunity leader and quite versatile (pun intended); and his mate, Jace, was a kick-ass partner. Pretty sure I'm gonna look for next installment of this series.
